The trial and the paid plugin are the same download. Install it, open it in your DAW, and start the 14 days from inside the plugin — there is no separate demo and no key to enter. Buying later unlocks the copy you already have.

What do I need to run it?

PHAT installs as a VST3 and an Audio Unit on macOS, and as a VST3 on Windows. Both builds are 64-bit. It loads in Ableton Live, FL Studio, Logic Pro, Cubase, Reaper, Reason and anything else that hosts VST3 or AU.

Mack is a Minneapolis-born sound designer and software engineer, based in Chicago, IL.

With a background in game design and interactive audio, Mack has worked on projects for Wizards of the Coast, Hidden Path, and Dead Rails.

He draws from his experience in the gaming industry to create plugins and tools for musicians that are fun and intuitive to use.

In the audio world, Mack has contributed to projects for Fine Classics Plugins, Producergrind, and other independent music and software projects.

In 2026, Mack launched Stereo Lemon, an independent plugin company focused on creating unconventional sound design tools for electronic music.

Outside of work, Mack enjoys traveling, spending time with friends, and gaming, especially couch co-op games.

These terms cover buying and using Stereo Lemon software. Buying or installing it means you accept them. Questions: mack@stereolemon.com.

What you are buying

A licence to use the software, not the software itself. Your licence lets you install and use PHAT on up to 2 computers you own or control, and to use it for commercial work — records you sell, client work, anything. We claim nothing in what you make with it.

It does not let you share, resell, rent or sub-license it, distribute your licence key, or reverse-engineer or modify the software except where the law says you may regardless.

Your licence key and your email

Your licence is keyed on the email address you bought with. That address is how the plugin finds your licence when you sign in, so use it exactly as written on your receipt — including when a payment method gave us an address you have not seen before, such as an Apple private relay address. Your receipt and your account page both show which address holds it.

Your licence key is yours alone. If you publish or share it, we may revoke it.

Moving between computers

Two machines at a time, and you can move as often as you like. Free a slot from the licence menu in the plugin on the machine you are leaving, or by signing into your account.

The free trial

14 days, one per email address, started from inside the plugin. During it the software is fully functional. When it ends, PHAT loads but stays silent and says so along the bottom of its window — that is the trial expiring, not a fault.

Price, payment and refunds

Prices are charged in US dollars by Stripe. We may change prices at any time; a change never applies to a purchase already made.

Updates

Updates are included at no extra cost for as long as we publish them. We do not promise a particular update, on a particular date, forever.

What we do not promise

The software is provided as is. We do not warrant that it is free of bugs, that it will work with every DAW, plugin or operating system, or that it will never interrupt your work.

You are responsible for backing up your own projects. Audio software runs inside your DAW and a crash can cost unsaved work — save often, as you would with any plugin.

Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for anything arising out of these terms or the software is limited to what you paid us for it. We are not liable for lost work, lost recordings, lost profit or lost time. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud, which cannot be limited.

If you break these terms

We may revoke your licence, which blocks new activations and revalidation. We will normally contact you first, unless the breach is deliberate.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced on the site, and the date at the top is always the version in force. Changes do not apply retroactively to a purchase already made.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, and disputes will be handled in the courts there.

What we collect

When you buy — your email address from the checkout page, a licence key we generate, the amount paid and Stripe’s identifiers for the purchase. We never see or store your card details; payment happens entirely on Stripe’s pages and we receive only the result.

When you activate or sign in — a device identifier for each computer you activate on, the IP address the activation came from, and when each device was first and last seen.

When you start a trial — your email address, a device identifier, your operating system and the plugin version, the IP address it started from, and whether you agreed to marketing email.

When you email us through the site — your address, your message, and the DAW and OS you tell us about. Your IP is used to rate-limit the form and is not stored with the message.

If you arrive through an affiliate — a cookie named ref, set by our affiliate provider, recording who sent you. It lasts 7 days and is the only cookie this site sets.

Why

Your licence is keyed on your email address: it is how the plugin finds your licence when you sign in. Device identifiers exist to enforce the two-machine limit, nothing else. IP addresses are kept to stop abuse — rate-limiting sign-in emails, trial farming and contact-form spam.

We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising, and we do not track you across other websites.

Who else sees it

Stripe for payment, Amazon Web Services for hosting, storage and the email we send you, and GoAffPro for the affiliate programme — which receives the sale amount and your email address only if you arrived through an affiliate link. Data is stored in US East (N. Virginia). Each has its own privacy policy governing what they do with it.

If you are in the UK or EU: your data is stored and processed in the United States. Our basis for holding it is performing the contract you entered when you bought or started a trial, and our legitimate interest in preventing abuse.

How long we keep it

Licences indefinitely, because a licence does not expire and you may need to reinstall years later. Trials indefinitely, because the one-per-email rule needs a record of them. Sign-in codes for minutes; they expire by themselves. Contact messages sit in our mailbox as ordinary email.

What you can ask for

Email mack@stereolemon.com and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Deleting your data means deleting your licence and we cannot give it back afterwards — we will say so before doing it.

Marketing email only goes to people who ticked the box, and every one has an unsubscribe link. Purchase receipts and activation emails are not marketing — you get those because you bought something.

Children

PHAT is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
